In 1978, a night club and cabaret named Mama Lion first opened its doors at 601 S Western Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90005 the landmark corner of 6th and Western Avenue. Throughout the 70’s and early 80’s It quickly became one of the areas hottest destinations, where some of LA’s finest came to drink, dine, and dance. By the late 80s, 601 S. Western Ave became home to some notable nightclubs including “Juliana’s” and “Sixth Avenue”.
In May of 2017, Mama Lion returned to Koreatown into the restaurant, bar, and lounge that you know and love today, paying homage to the ever-popular venue of the 70’s. As a nod to the historical significance of Los Angeles’ deep-rooted culture, the new and reimagined space complements its 1926 design with a contemporary style. The award-winning design continues to evolve as resident artists and live entertainers bring new life and perspectives to the venue.
